Julián Andaya is the Emerging Leaders for Liberation Program Director. Working with youth from across the United States, Julián works to develop the social justice organizing skills of young community activists, helping to hone their skills in community-focused change efforts.
Prior to his role as Director, Julián served as AFSC’s Robert Andrew Stuart Fellow, where he worked with previously incarcerated youth in Philadelphia, helping to organize their communities to move towards the abolishment of Youth Incarceration in Pennsylvania. Julián also holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Johns Hopkins University, where he focused his thesis on how nonprofit organizations can move away from traditional forms of development and management, in pursuit of ending the Nonprofit Industrial Complex.
