Araceli Argueta is the Organizing and Advocacy Director for AFSC's New Jersey Immigrant Rights Program. Araceli is an organizer, anthropologist and campaigner from El Salvador. She has organized for more than 10 years across Latin America with women, youth and indigenous people, creating tools and tactics to mobilize people from different backgrounds. She has worked on gender rights, migration, environmental and biocultural protection. Araceli has solid experience in political education, popular education, advocacy, nonviolent campaigning, digital campaigning and strategic planning in local and international organizations. She has researched social movements and political mobilization, especially on the use of language, symbols and cultural means to create social change. In her current role, she supervises AFSC’s team of social workers in addition to the organizing and advocacy staff.
