67 youth keep languages alive
From Facebook: Recently we had the pleasure to share space with Henry, Olga, and student Rebecca who came into our HYPHY [Help Your People Help Yourself] space to share powerful gems with us. They had us practice some common Mam phrases and learned the Maya number system. [Mam is a Mayan language spoken in parts of Guatemala and southern Mexico.] We had a blast! Gracias por venir a compartir con nosotros and for keeping our lenguas vivas.

Exhibit looks at history of labor and power in the Americas
67 Sueños youth attended the recent exhibit of the Braceros and The Rubber Soldiers at Cal-Berkeley. Images on the wall were our abuelitos, our ancestors. These narratives, absent from our history books, remind us of the importance of honoring our unsung heroes who shaped the world we know today. Follow 67 on Facebook.

New banner reflects unity, solidarity and shared struggle
From Instagram: This year’s (Heal Your People Heal Yourself (HYPHY) cohort decided to wrap up their year by having a showcase where they invited their families to witness all the learning they had done throughout the year. One of the components of this showcase was the beautiful banner (above) they brainstormed and painted together.
The theme was In Lak’ech -- “you are my other me.” They wanted to reflect the varying ways in which there is unity, solidarity and shared struggle among communities of color. They also wanted to be sure to remind everyone that we are in deep solidarity with the people of Palestine and their continued resistance. Throughout the banner you will find imagery that speaks to intergenerational healing, migration, solidarity, and culture.

Summer youth cohort restores, adds to mural celebrating feme energy
From Facebook: This summer, we have the pleasure to restore and add to Nuestras Raíces: Our Divine Lineage, a beautiful, youth-led mural created back in 2019. This mural honors our Madre Tierra and protecting the sacredness of life. Over the years our mural has been through a lot and needs some community love. We are excited that this year’s summer youth cohort will get to adapt and envision what honoring Mother Earth can and should look like today.

Putting a wrap on this summer’s mural work
From Facebook: It was such a blessing to work and paint alongside each and every one of the young people involved in breathing life back into a mural and into the neighborhood. We hope they feel proud of all the work they did this summer and the beautiful art with powerful messaging that they gifted our community. Check out photos and this beautiful video.
